What is Award Winning Ollie and His Superpowers Coaching?

Ollie and His Superpowers is an award winning coaching model developed by practitioner, author and trainer Alison Knowles. When Alison was working with children in difficult circumstances, the idea for superpowers to represent emotions came to her and she created the character of Ollie to help children (old and young!) to understand their emotions and how they can work for and against them in different situations and most importantly how to change them into something helpful and useful, quickly and effortlessly.
The Ollie Concept works at many levels and has been particularly successful when taken into schools and organisations working with children in challenging circumstances. The Ollie model differs from other types of interventions in that it is a 'whole village' approach.
Ollie has programs that not only work one to one but also can include teachers and parents and groups to help carry the Ollie concept throughout the whole organisation.
Meet some of Ollie's Superpowers....

We all have superpower emotions and parts of us that help and sometimes hinder us in day to day life.
If you ask a child to point to their head, they can or their brain or heart. All obvious so far, but ask them, or anyone for that matter where their sadness is or their happy or what it looks like or how it feels ...... we will often get confusion instead.
However we ask children, especially to control and change their emotions all the time. this is where Ollie comes in, Ollie Coaching uses techniques and tools to help change, make sense of and control emotions which in turn changes behaviour and thoughts.
Ollie gets to choose how he wants to feel and what super powers will be best at getting him through his day. We all have lots of emotions or super powers. Ollie teaches us to control which ones we use and when. He teaches us to understand why we feel what we feel so that we can decide if we really want to feel that way or feel something else.
Core Principles and Models
The Ollie approach is based largely upon, but not exclusively, the ideas of parts therapy. We are all made up of different aspects or parts that interact and come to the fore in any given situation. As we are all unique so these different parts of ourselves are also unique to us in how they help or hinder us in daily life.
There are no right or wrong parts, there are no parts that we should or shouldn't have, there is just us in our own unique way doing the best that we can. Ollie is a strengths based approach which assumes that everyone is doing the best that they can in any given situation and that things are not always what they seem as problems have multiple layers and a history of evolution.
We can all change and with the right coaching, change can be deep and lasting.
Kids just get it....
Not just kids to be fair, but children really do embrace the concept of emotional superpowers as it gives them a language and method of helping themselves deal with often complex and overwhelming emotions that might otherwise take years of life experience to acquire. And even then, that is not a given.
Alongside the understanding of emotions can come changes in behaviour, Ollie Coaches will enter the world of the child to discover in a gentle and curious manner, that holds no judgement or expectations, just what is going on and help the child (or adult) to help themselves evolve thoughts, emotions and behaviour into a more helpful place,
